Suspensions Tab

Hi,

In the Discipline section of Competition Portal, in the Suspensions tab/page, I am getting players showing in the list of suspended players for my league that are not registered for my league. This used to happen a lot in WGS and it is still happening in the Portal now that Discipline has switched to the Portal. Manchester FA had told me that this would be corrected with the switch of discipline from WGS to the Portal, but clearly it has not been resolved......it is still happening !

In response to me raising a ticket, Owen Tearney has told me that suspensions show for players that are attached to a club in my league even though they are not currently registered in my league. However, I think this is illogical, unnecessary and confusing.

I request enhancement so that only currently active registered players for a League are shown as suspended in the list of registered players for a League.

I think the current system logic is  not right, it is unhelpful and confusing to the users (ie League Secretaries like me) for suspensions to be shown for players that are not currently active (ie not registered) in the League. Whilst a player may be attached to a club in my league, if they are effectively 'dormant' for that club and so not currently active for that club and league, I think that they should not show as suspended for the League. If a club subsequently decides that they want such a player to start playing for them again, they would go through the registration and if I approve that registration (whilst the player is still suspended from all football) they would then show on our list of suspended players for the League.

One of the issues with the current logic is that (unlike The FA or County FA) I don't have visibility of players that are attached to a club in my League but who are not currently registered. So, when a player appears on my Leagues list of suspended players and I find that they are not registered in my League, I can't identify which club they are attached to and so I don't know which club to contact.

Owen suggested that I should be encouraging my clubs to remain on top of 'dormant' players attached to their clubs, to do 'housekeeping' on their players list. But, whilst that might in theory sound good, in practice it doesn't work as busy people who do all this voluntarily just don't do it reliably enough. Clubs may want to keep 'dormant' players on their player list for good reason. A club may decide that they want to register a previously inactive player, if the player has been detached from their club it is more work for them to have to 'retrieve' the player from the system and attach them to their club.

I don't see how the current functionality for showing player suspensions for a league achieves "best reflection of up to date data with clubs and leagues" (as Owen said). That's just meaningless management talk/motherhood statement.

Please can this be resolved with the enhancement that I request above.

Thanks,

Michael

  • Hi,

I reply to clarify that Tom has raised this enhancement request on my behalf because I was not able to do it when I tried on Monday.

I'm the Secretary of the South Manchester and Christian Football League. We're a Manchester FA league, we cover all of Greater Manchester and parts of Cheshire and South East Lancashire.

     Thanks,
