Squad Girls Football Application Flow

The following 10-step process will take you through the flow for creating a new Squad Girls Football application on the Events Platform. This is what you would need to follow if you wanted to be a new provider of Squad in your area for girls between 12 and 14 years old.


Before anything else of course, you must have firstly logged in to the Events Platform. Once that's done, you can head to the 'Applications' tab down the left side menu and press 'Create Application' to the right of the screen in blue. Click to start a new application for Squad and we're off!

Step 1: Programme Type

The first page of the application allows you to select which programme you want to deliver. Since you're on this article and not the Weetabix Wildcats, Snickers Protein Just Play, or Age UK Walking Football article, click Squad Girls Football of course! Tick the agree to the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, then hit 'Next'.

Step 2: Lead Contact Information

The next section is information about you, the main organiser/applicant. Simply fill in all your personal details here including your date of birth, home address, email address and phone number. This part may automatically be filled in and synced from your FAN login so you might not even have to do anything. Let's move on!

Step 3: Provider Information

Following on from your details are your new intended provider's details. This is where you can insert what the provider is called, where it is based, its address and contact information, and what County FA it comes under. This may or may not be at the address where delivery is eventually held - something which you can tick or untick at the bottom. Onward!

Step 4: Questions

Almost halfway through already? It's easy this application lark. The first box on this section will likely be already inserted from the previous page for you, so no worries there. You just need to choose the relevant organisation type and delivery type from the two drop-downs.

Then, via four simple questions, this part of the application allows you to explain why you want to become a Squad provider and all the reasons you're going to 'provide' a great set of football sessions to the young girls who turn up! If you're linked to a grassroots club, tell us which one at the bottom too.

Step 5: Session Details

Next up are some further specifics about your provider. The first box is automatically chosen and unchangeable as Squad is for girls, but after that, there are some important things to confirm. Is it going to be a disability-specific provider? Futsal-only provider? How many booking spaces are you going to offer? And how much are you charging participants per session?

It's important to note here that you can offer a maximum number of booking spaces for sessions, and this is not limited to a certain number. However, please bear in mind your intended venue and your staffing ratios for how much room you can accommodate in terms of participant numbers. The maximum cost should be £3 but please speak to your County FA if you feel you need to charge more than that for operational/organisational costs and/or venue hire.

Step 6: Dates and Days

In at number six are the start and end dates in addition to the day(s) you will run your upcoming sessions. Choose a start date here at some point in the future and remember that you need to deliver at least 16 weeks in the year that you apply as well as 16 weeks the year after too. Then, just tell us the day(s) you're thinking of running on - but please consider this in line with your dates when choosing. Next!

Step 7: Documents

Get this step right and you're already on your way to being a great provider as these documents can prove occasionally tricky, but they are quite straightforward in reality. You will need to have four documents uploaded onto this application form to be a Squad provider and they are listed in the image below. Our templates for three of the documents are available for you to download at the top, then fill in and upload when finished.

Ensure one version of each document heading are selected in the four drop-down boxes. Press 'Select File To Upload' underneath the document name to upload a file for that heading. This will open up your computer files where you can choose your saved documents for each heading. The only rule is not special characters or funky punctuation within your document contents or file name because the system doesn't like it. You will know if you have successfully uploaded a document because there will be a clickable link underneath each box - and a cross (X) button should you need to delete a document from your list.

Go to the next section quickly. Scary, right?

Step 8: Venue

Start typing out your venue name or postcode into the box and hit 'Find Venue'. It should bring up a list of those nearby so select the desired one you're going to use for your sessions. Once chosen, this should automatically pre-select the right County FA - but do change this if not correct. Move down and continue to fill in the details around the venue you chose, such as facility type and pitch type. If you require two venues or more (perhaps a summer and a winter one), simply click 'Add New Venue' and repeat the process.

Step 9: Session Deliverers

Now for the longest section, but you're so close to the end. This part involves inputting the primary session deliverer, designated safeguarding officer(s) and other session deliverers to the application - because, you know, 12-14 year old girls can't run the sessions themselves no matter how much they tell you they could. Please read the pre-section brief on the application stating the criteria and requirements needed for each role before you can begin, and then get to it.

First up is the primary session deliverer. If you are the person completing the application and are going to be the primary session deliverer, tick 'I am the Primary Session Deliverer' which should populate your details straight underneath. If you're not the Primary Session Deliverer then insert someone else's FAN into the top box instead. You will need their FAN to complete the section so please ask that person for it if you don't know it. The system will pull through the various qualifications needed for the role via the FAN inserted so if there is a problem or a missing award, this might flag up here.

Following that is the designated safeguarding officer (DSO). The process is nearly identical to the primary session deliverer section, so input yourself or someone else as DSO by using the tick box or by using FANs. Again, anyone listed in this role who doesn't meet the qualifications criteria will appear with an error message. You can also add another DSO if there will be more than one by pressing 'Add Another DSO' and doing the same thing.

Lastly are the other session deliverers involved, as there can only be one listed primary session deliverer. Again, the layout and completion process is exactly the same as the primary session deliverer and DSO. Here is where any extra coaches or volunteers who will help run the sessions are added. Remember the requirements for this role at the top of the page and as usual, you can involve more people by pressing 'Add Session Deliverer' towards the bottom.

Step 10: Summary and Submit

You've made it! That wasn't so bad, was it? The only things left to do now are to agree to those T's and C's and sign your name!

You will then be shown a summary page of everything you have filled in and have the chance to go back and edit any part using the pencil icons situated next to the information at various points. Anything you see highlighted in red will need some attention so look out for that. This could include unqualified staff members or a section of the application not filled in fully.

If you're happy with everything, all the criteria is met, your venue is expecting you, and you're ready to host some girls football - go ahead and submit your application at the bottom of the summary page! This will go straight through to your County FA which you put down within the application, who will review what you've presented and give you a response. They will either approve it, reject it, or send it back for any clarifications they need.

Once approved, you've applied! Now you're good to go and create your event.
